Meet Your Instructor: Ramiro Allende

The Keyboard That Stayed
My musical journey began in Argentina, between the vibrant streets of Rosario and Buenos Aires. I was the youngest of three brothers who decided to start a band: Juan on guitar, Fabio on drums, and a friend on bass. By default, I was designated the keyboard player. A few months later, the band dissolved and the instruments were sold—all except the keyboard. That lone instrument changed my life.
A Global Musical Adventure
What started as teenage curiosity turned into a lifelong obsession. After years of studying theory, composition, and improvisation, I set out on a global career that has taken me across nearly every continent. As a pianist and Musical Director, I spent over a decade leading orchestras for Celebrity, Crystal, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean cruise lines, performing for thousands of people alongside world-class artists.
Composer & Educator
Offstage, my passion lies in the “bones” of music. As an arranger and producer, my work has been published and recorded by international vocalists. However, my most rewarding work happens in the studio. I have been teaching since 1998—first in Buenos Aires and now here in South Carolina—helping students master everything from basic theory to the art of improvisation.
At Home in the Lowcountry
Today, I am proud to call Summerville home. When I’m not teaching at Red Beard Piano, you can find me serving as the Director of Music and Organist at Aldersgate Methodist Church of North Charleston, performing in the orchestra pit at the Dock Street Theatre for a Charleston Stage production, or playing for private events and senior living communities throughout the tri-county area.
I live in beautiful Summerville with my wife, Sara, and I am thrilled to bring my global experience to our local community. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, I can’t wait to help you find your own “keyboard that stays.”
